UIDP27 will be hosted by Northwestern University, in partnership with The University of Chicago and The University of Illinois at Chicago this September.
UIDP27 Keynote Speaker
We are excited to announce our keynote speaker, Leigh Thompson from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Thompson is the J. Jay Gerber Professor of Dispute Resolution & Organizations with the Kellogg School. She is the director of the Kellogg Team and Group Research Center, the Kellogg Leading High Impact Teams Executive program, High Performance Negotiation Skills Executive program, and co-director of the Constructive Collaboration Executive program and the Navigating Work Place Conflict Executive program. In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Northwestern.
Thompson is seen as a leading expert in creativity and innovation, negotiation, knowledge transfer, and emotional intelligence. Her research focuses on negotiation skills and strategies, group decision making, creativity, and analogical reasoning. Read more about Leigh Thompson.
UIDP27 Agenda Highlights
The UIDP27 program will include four half-day workshops on open innovation programs within both industry and universities.
The semi-annual conference will explore the role of university-industry partnerships in emerging technologies, including the life cycle of relationship management as it applies to university-industry partnerships, example models of impactful master research agreements and the role of startups. There will be optional tours highlighting innovation in the Chicagoland region and two evening receptions, one in Chicago and one in Evanston.
UIDP27 registrants can look forward to:
General interest sessions grouped in areas such as:
- Strategic Engagement
- Workforce Matters
Short sessions providing a quick overview of company approaches to university engagement as well as hot topics affecting U-I collaborations.
Project sessions highlight the UIDP project portfolio and our focused efforts to address issues affecting collaborations between the sectors.
Presentations that discuss ways to initiate and grow university-industry relationships
- Two evening networking receptions. Including one at the innovative Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, located in the heart of downtown Chicago.
- Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and Northwestern Simulation Lab
- University of Illinois Chicago’s Electronic Visualization Lab

UIDP Academy Workshops
Additional fee required.
Workshops are each a half day and will run concurrently.
